Mr. Kevin R. Callahan

President and Chief Executive Officer

Mr Callahan has over 15 years of consumer goods product development and marketing experience globally working with some of the world’s biggest brand names. As well as being the President and CEO of Pioneering Technology Corp. and its subsidiaries. Mr. Callahan is also a partner in Upstream Capital Inc., a private investment company, and President of The Upstream Group Inc., a private company that works with emerging business ventures.

Prior to forming The Upstream Group, Mr. Callahan worked with EcomPark Inc., and in consumer products marketing with BBDO Canada, a division of BBDO Worldwide.

Mr. Dan MacDonald

Chief Operating Officer

Mr. MacDonald's 20 plus years of experience in leading both technology and consumer goods businesses through periods of growth and transition has equipped him with the skill set to help lead Pioneering in its next phase of development. His professional experience at Kodak Canada and TMP Worldwide, as well as the consumer packaged goods industry with Pillsbury, Maple Leaf, and Kraft General Foods are valuable assets to the Pioneering management team in guiding the strategic direction and future growth of the business and its transition to retail markets.

Mr. Laird Comber

Vice President of Sales

Mr. Comber is Vice President of Sales for Pioneering Technology. Mr. Comber has over ten years of sales leadership experience, the last three of which were spent building Pioneering’s Safe-T-element business throughout North America.

Prior to Pioneering Mr. Comber spent 7 years in sales with Johnston Equipment, Canada’s largest engineered systems and material handing company.

Mr. Wayne Zu

Director of Engineering and Manufacturing

Wayne is an electrical engineer and a licensed professional engineer in Ontario since 2006, who earned his Master of Applied Science in Electrical and Computer Engineering from Ryerson University in 2005. Wayne also holds a Electrical Engineering from the North China Institute of Technology, China. He has held a variety of positions of increasing responsibility with companies in both China and Canada and has helped design, develop, manage and bring to market new technologies and products with these companies.

Wayne joined Pioneering Technology in March, 2012 and has been instrumental in helping Pioneering Technology develop and prepare to launch its two new products: RangeMinder and SmartBurner. Wayne’s technical expertise, design skills, management experience and people relationship skills have enabled Pioneering to get both of these products to the point of now being market ready. Wayne has also been instrumental in working with suppliers and manufacturers to ensure that manufacturing of both current and new products will be of the highest quality standards possible.

Mr. Earl Diment

Chief Safety Officer

Mr. Diment is Chief Safety Officer for Pioneering Technology. Prior to that Mr. Diment spent 24 years with Portland Fire & Rescue, in Portland, OR.

Starting as a line firefighter he has spent the last 20 years as a fire prevention and life safety specialist teaching, lecturing, and authoring papers throughout the United States on the subject.

Mr. Diment is currently Vice Chair of the Executive Board (of the Education Section) for the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) in Boston, Massachusetts.

Mr. Richard D. Adair


Mr. Adair is a practiced financial professional with a career spanning more than 20 years. Currently Mr. Adair is President and Chief Operating Officer of Symbility Solutions a wholly owned subsidiary of Automated Benefits Corp (TSXV:AUT) a leading provider of software for the Property and Casualty Insurance industry. Previously, Mr. Adair has acted as Chief Financial Officer and Chief Operating Officer of a series of small to medium-sized private and public technology companies. From 2001-2005, he acted as Chief Financial Officer of Systech Retail Systems Corp. (TSX:SYS), a U.S.-based retail technology company. From 2006-present , Mr. Adair has held a series of roles in Automated Benefits Corp. including Chief Financial Officer.

Ms. Meredith K. Appy


Ms. (Meri-K) Appy is an internationally-recognized leader in fire and life safety education. She is a highly respected and sought after safety expert and spokesperson, with broadcast appearances on every major U.S. network. Ms. Appy is currently President of Appy & Associates in Washington D.C.. Previously, she served as President of Safe Kids USA at the Children’s National Medical Center; as President of the Home Safety Council in Washington, D.C. from March 2003 to December 2010; and as Vice President for Public Education at the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) from 1989 – 2003. She currently serves on several national Boards and Advisory Committees including: the Congressional Fire Services Institute National Advisory Committee; the Federal Emergency Management Agency’s (FEMA) Youth Advisory Committee, the International Association of Fire Chiefs' Fire and Life Safety Section Board, John's Hopkins School of Public Health Center for Injury Research and Policy Advisory Board and the Vision 20/20 National Strategies for Fire Loss Prevention’s Executive Committee.

Mr. John Bergsma


John Bergsma is the Commissioner of Corporate Services for the Regional Municipality of Niagara. He currently sits on the Boards of St. Catharine’s Hydro Inc., Horizon Utilities Corp., Quartet Services Inc., and the Ontario Clean Water Agency.Mr. Bergsma has served as President of Lennox Canada Inc., President & CEO of Union Gas Ltd., President of Massey Ferguson Research Ltd. and Columbus McKinnon Ltd. John has also served on the Board of Directors of CFM Corp., various natural gas utilities, pipeline companies and industry associations, including the Executive Committee of the Board of the International Gas Union.

EcomPark was sold in 2001. From November 1994 to March 2000, Mr. Callahan worked in consumer products marketing with BBDO Canada, a division of BBDO Worldwide as Vice-President, Group Director.

Mr. David L Dueck


Mr. Dueck is an owner and operator of National Importers Inc., a privately held company that buys, distributes and manages retail products throughout North America; specializing in marketing/ distribution solutions and expert brand, trade and logistics management.

Mr. Dueck is also a principle of McAllister Holdings Ltd, a private investment firm focused on investing in and developing early stage companies.

Mr. Paul H. Harricks


Corporate Lawyer and Senior Partner of the law firm Gowling Lafleur Henderson LLP. Prior to joining Gowling, Mr. Harricks was a partner with Smith Lyons LLP (Gowlings predecessor firm) where he began his career in 1978.

Mr. Harricks has a transactions-based practice in the areas of securities and corporate finance, project development and finance, mergers and acquisitions (in a variety of sectors) and energy law. He acts for a wide range of Canadian and foreign corporations, investment dealers, banks and financial institutions. He is Vice-Chair of the firm’s Energy Group.

Mr. Michael P. Kraft


Mr. Michael P. Kraft is the Chairman of Buckingham Group Limited, a private merchant banking corporation and President of MPK Inc., a consulting corporation to private and public companies since 1994.

Mr. Kraft is also President, CEO and a Director of Lingo Media and has been so since its inception in 1996 along with being a Director of Estrella Gold Corporation since July 2007, both TSX Venture Exchange listed companies.
